Canadian Blog Awards

As part of my pursuit to win “Best Photo/Art Blog”, I figure rather than making people search through my more than 470 daily photos, I can present some of the photos that people have found as favorites and maybe you’ll agree. Take a look at some of the images below (links go to the originals), and explore even further. But most importantly, please vote for me DAILY for “Best Photo/Art Blog” and “Best Personal Blog”.

ansel adams and alfred eisenstaedt

ansel adams and alfred eisenstaedt exhibition at ago museum

i got an invite earlier this week to an evening preview event of the new Ansel Adams/Alfred Eisenstaedt exhibition at the AGO next week.

This outstanding photography exhibition celebrates the work of two renowned masters of the medium in black and white, Ansel Adams (1902–1984) and Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898–1995).

Beginning November 18, 2006 until February 4, 2007, these two exhibitions present a new look at the extraordinary careers of Adams and Eisenstaedt and highlight some of their most iconic images.

there will be a tour of the exhibition, a panel discussion about photography with Louie Palu, (Globe and Mail photojournalist), Rannie Turingan (photoblogger), and John Reeves (photographer).

i’m really excited to attend. look for a post-exhibit blog post sometime next week.

matchstick/nokia interview

matchstick

matchstick folks get the camera turned on them. that’s not me on the left - it’s my doppleganger, jeff from matchstick.

i was contacted last week by matchstick, the company that was so nice to include me in their nokia phone seeding promotion. they were looking to video interview some of the folks who blogged about their experience with the nokia 6682. so last night we met up downtown, found a spot to video (keep it short in case security shows up looking for permits), and i answered a bunch of questions on video. classic single-person interview style where i repeat the question asked at the start of my answer. they asked the usual questions - do you like it, what don’t you like, how many people have you told, any good stories? of course - if i didn’t have my nokia 6682 with me, i wouldn’t have been able to capture my 2nd meeting of Kenny Hotz.

i wasn’t used to being the one in front of the camera. i’m usually behind the camera, taking the photos, but i think i did alright. the video is intended to be shown only to nokia, but i might get to see the finished product. we joked about posting it to youtube.
