a day at the doctors

not my back, but a reasonable facsimile
today i had a trip to the doctor’s office. nothing too serious to worry about (don’t worry mom). before xmas i hurt my back a bit at the gym. the weights have gotten a lot heavier and i think i bruised something when i was doing leg press. go figure, try pushing 720lbs and something might go pop. i figured i’d rest it over the holidays and come back new. it’s now no better with 3 weeks of rest. it stopped me a fair amount at the gym on tuesday, so i went in today to get it checked out.
over an hour in the waiting room. 10 minutes in the doctor’s office. i figured while i’m there, i should check on my foot as well. i think i’ve got heel spurs or plantar fasciitis for the fancy term. it happened when we went camping and i was stomping around in sandals. i could barely walk and was limping around everywhere. so the doc recommended xrays for my foot, along with the xrays for my back.
off to the xray lab. another wait. change into a paper dress. nobody can feel cool standing in a large paper bag. unless if you mean cool as in the draft rushing across your backside from the open gown. a half dozen xrays on my foot in a bunch of different positions. a half dozen xrays on my back. then another wait on the xray table while the tech checked them out. all the while, the xray “gun” hanging inches above my head, humming with electricity and all the wonders of radiation. why do you get covered in a lead jeacket when you get xrays at the dentist office, but at this place everything is exposed to be zapped? i won’t be surprised when i get cut off in traffic tonight and turn into the hulk with all the rays i’ve been zapped with today.
the doc recommended physio. once i get the results back from the xrays in a week, then i may need something different. so i’m guessing i’ll have to do stretching and twisting for a little while.

Hey Blaine
bad backs do run in the Kendall family, my dad (Uncle Stan),my brother Walter and I have back problems. Keep your back strong and in good health. Alot of your problems when your older come from your childhood and the silly things we did as kids. My dad told me about your web site.

it is not an xray gun its a xray tube and the exposure stops when the tech releases the button and they tell you when they are done.. the reason we dont put lead on you when we take back xrays is because it will cover up your anatomy
