Tip: iCal not matching Exchange calendar

iCal

I checked my iPhone over the weekend and noticed an appointment I know I had put in my calendar for this week wasn’t in my schedule after I entered it from my computer. First thing this morning, I checked it. Sure enough, the calendar view in iCal was vastly different than what was appearing in my Outlook view of my schedule. I thought it might have been related to multiple calendar settings in iCal, but it wasn’t that.

In the iCal menu, I came across Calendar > Go Online. I didn’t know what it did, but I selected it. Immediately, the iCal view started updating with meetings and the Outlook and iCal views were the same again. Problem solved.

The problem dates back to what I had unknowingly done a few weeks ago. It turns out I had a recurring appointment at the start of each month that I had previously hit snooze on and iCal was unable to save the changes back to the server so it gave me the options “Try Again, Use Server’s Version, Go Offline”. Try Again never worked. Use Server’s Version never worked either no matter how much I clicked it. So I hit Go Offline. I didn’t know it would take the entire iCal calendar offline.

Be aware of the buttons you click. Hopefully this tip will help others who have seen their calendars get out of sync.

I just got my free photo business arts from Moo.com. Check them out.

Moo.com has been around for a while, I’m late to the game but I saw one of their free cards deals lately and had to try it out. For $7 shipping, I got to put 50 of my images on cards and the reverse side has all my info. Very cool, very (almost) free. The free cards also have a little bit of advertising along the edge and a coupon code for a discount in case your friends like them and want to order their own.

Rather than just a card, you get one of my favorite photos. The card quality is very good – thick and heavy. I’d definitely order another set for paying.

Next time you see me, be sure to ask for one.
